The 100 considers economic empowerment as a necessary step toward creating a just society, not only here in the United States, but for black people around the world. The 100 defines economic empowerment as the ability to be self-determined in creating dreams, pursuing them and black-economic-empowerment-certificateultimately perpetuating them by establishing the mechanisms to sustain generational wealth.

Health and Wellness

The 100's health and wellness goals are to raise awareness, provide access to health care and health information that will ultimately promote behavior change resulting in a healthier lifestyle. The organization's Health & Wellness Committee provides leadership to the chapters as they establish health & wellness committees at the local level. Through civic and corporate partnerships, the 100 delivers health education programs and free health screenings in hundreds of communities annually.

Mentoring

Mentoring the 100 Way® - A holistic mentoring program that addresses the social, emotional and cultural needs of children ages 8-18. Members of the 100 are trained and certified to become mentors, advocates, and role models for the youth within their communities. Through chapter operated one-on-one and group mentoring efforts, our members forge relationships that positively impact our greatest resource: our youth.

Education

The 100 provides annual scholarship awards to deserving matriculating students who will be full-time students at accredited and post-secondary institutions based on 100 Black Men of the Upstate eligibility criteria. Scholarship dollars assist youth in completing educational goals by providing resources to offset expenses associated with tuition, books and housing.

Leadership

The 100 Black Men Upstate SC provides individual and group mentoring to students in grades 6 through 12 who demonstrate the potential to be leaders and who have an expressed interest and motivation to pursue post-secondary education. In a society where children and teens are highly influenced by their peers, our program's mission is to prepare leaders of tomorrow to be leaders today in every area of society.
